Polish Tango 1933: Chór Juranda & Ork. Arkadi Flato - Weź mnie (Take Me)
Chór Juranda & Orkiestra pod dyr. Arkadi Flato - Weź mnie (I ukryj w swych ramionach) [Take Me / And Hide In Your Arms] Tango z teatru „Banda” (from the revue teatre „Banda”) (J. Petersburski - A. Włast) Odeon 1933 (Polish)
NOTE: This tango was performed by Zofia Terne & the Dana Choir on the stage of the Banda cabaret, which was organized in Warsaw by the actors of the famous Qui Pro Quo after its collapse in 1931, and again became very popular. This tango was a big hit for only a short season, and today is completely forgotten, despite the famous name of composer Jerzy Petersburski (author of world-famous hits "Oh Donna Clara" and "This Is Last Sunday").
Arkadi FLATO was a Polish-Jewish violinist and conductor, one of the pioneers of jazz in Poland (although his favorite genre was Argentine tangos). Born in Poland, he became involved with the German music scene in the 1920s, collaborating with various Berlin dance orchestras. After the Nazis came to power in 1933, he left Germany with his friend Ady Rosner - a famous Krakow jazz trumpeter. In Warsaw, Flato worked as an arranger for Polish Radio orchestras, he had for some time his own dance band and occasionally recorded at Odeon Records (where conductor Jerzy Gert was the music director). During World War II, Arcadi Flato opened the Taverna Café in the Warsaw Ghetto, he also performed as a pianist at the Modern Café in Nowolipki Street in Warsaw, together with Artur Gold's orchestra and another pianist Władysław Szpilman (the hero of Roman Polanski's film "The Pianist"). In 1942, Flato committed suicide during one of the "Endlösung" actions organized by the Germans during the liquidation of the ghetto.
Refrain in ENGLISH:
Take me
And hide me in your arms;
Take me
This Spring is so mad;
In the scent of lilacs
In the melody of simple words of love;
a strange longing awakens
In hearts of all lonely people.
Take me
I am so poor and tiny.
Take me
This Spring is so short,
Tomorrow lilacs will fade
And our love will wither;
You will coldly go away
Leaving me with tears.

Beautiful Tango and choir, so the video. Very nice melody. The charm of Tango never fails 👍🙏🙋♂️🍀🎻🎶🌺☀️
This song has a prominent role in the movie Angel Heart. It's haunting and whimsical all at once. A truly beautiful piece of music.

Beautiful Fox-trot with a nice accordion and vibraphone passage in the tune. Great voice and melody, so the video. Thank you so much for sharing, Dear Grzegorz. Have a Happy new week 🙏🙋♂️🍀🎹🎶🌺☀️
This version is nothing short of phenomenal.
One of the most dreary recordings ever. Simply awful.
I want breakfast!
"Five O´clock tea"! (Even in Germany)
Jaa, Fünf-Uhr-Tee :-)
It is a pity indeed that soon after this recording, Paul Godwin would definitively abandon the dance band music scene, since his exceptional talent and skill are obvious in this utterly refined and elegant performance. The vocal by Paul Dorn was lovely too. Thank you so much for sharing!
Given his artistic life and sensibilities (we must remember, a large part of his soul was Polish) Godwin must have been very painfully affected by the atrocities of the Holocaust, which he observed from afar, while he himself was somewhat more secure in the Netherlands, as it seems - or because of that. His turn to more serious music was probably a kind of mourning to the crazy days of Weimar Berlin, which were gone forever for him. And so many friends of his - dead.
@@240252 Thank you so much for this intelligent analysis, which I am fully seconding!
Bernie Cummins is offering an outstandingly colourful and energetic version of this famous song of the 1920s... I loved this! Thank you as well for the stunning, nostalgic portraits you included in the video :-)
I love you, I love you Is all that I can say. I love you, I love you The same old words I'm saying in the same old way I love you, I love you Three words that are divine And now my dear, I'm waiting to hear, The words that make you mine.
Excellent! 👍
A jeśli ktoś oczyścił nagrania z szumów, to dziękuję bardzo.

Witam piekne slowa piosenki z nutka dla zakochanych pozdrawiam ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Germany also have a grandiose musical production, especially in the Weimar Republic, where, despite the economic and political crisis, there was a great cultural affirmation in the musical, artistic and cinematic field 👍🙋♂️🍀🎻🎼🌺☀️
and this was made possible by the many wonderful Jewish artists - like this band leader Paul Godwin who had next to Marek Weber and Dajos Bela one of the best orchesters and who could play anything at all.

Why not. You can like such Germany.
Absolutely! :-)

I would buy both girls and the motorcycles
Nat Shilkret's 1928 International Novelty Orchestra release also on Victor is a bit more energetic.
Good old times ❤

Bernie Cummins band never fails to delight. Thanks for sharing this 20's classic. That's a beautiful Brunswick!
Thank you! It's a fabulous record, indeed and a great band Regards :-)
Oh dear old chum, it appears you’ve had a rather nasty fall. 2020? The Caretaker? The only caretaker I know is Cecil from the church, a kind fellow. Now, let’s get you inside shall we? Perhaps we can find ourselves a fine lady to take to the ball tonight
Najlepsza interpretacja tej pieśni,bo wojskowa i sentymentalna zarazem...
One of my favorite songs - very much the theme song from the movie The Roaring Twenties - with Jimmy Cagney and Humphrey Bogart and a song that the great Al Bowlly made his own
I am glad that I have met your taste. The Bowlly's version is however a more rhapsodic style, while Bernie Cummins gives a true hot-dance piece from the Roaring 20s. Best wishes :-) ua-cam.com/video/Fyco9CUfcyU/v-deo.html
@@240252 It is marvelous that a wonderful number such as this can have so many interpretations
An article about the Italian aviator, Umberto Nobile, mentioned a little stray terrier dog that adopted him and he named it Titina after this song. I used to listen to my grandparents' 78s and have always loved Billy Murray songs so I had to find this. Thank you so much! I can picture him singing this to his little dog. Nobile must have had a fun sense of humor.
When they took tubas out of records, music was finished.

No, taki melancholijny to on nie jest. Można obcasy wyłamać na parkiecie :-) Pozdrawiam
